Even though you are available and willing to work there is no longer any work available. what were your first thoughts after being laid off? ” what did I do to deserve this? “Truth is blaming yourself for being laid off is a common feeling. You should not take your layoff personal. Having a good support system will be mandatory in surviving a layoff. Feeling depressed or shamed can quickly consume your thoughts. Join a support group such as americasunemployed.wordpress.com. Contact your Pastor or spiritual leader for guidance. Also take time to collect your thoughts and plan your career choices. Use the time you have at home to catch up on things that are long over due. Try your best to make this situation become and obstacle you over come.
Hope this helps and God Bless.

Thanks for the advice. Ive been laid off since January of 09 and boy has it been rough. You make a good point about having a support system or you will really go out of your mind. I would love to share my story if it can help other people. I really think we should all go and camp outside of the white house until somebody does something about this.
